Welcome to NJBackyard, where our love for gardening grows as deeply as our New Jersey roots. I'm Nirav Patel, the proud founder and heart behind NJBackyard. Born and raised in the Garden State, my journey into the world of gardening began in the suburban backyard of my childhood, a magical place nurtured by my immigrant parents. It was there, amidst the tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and squash, that my fascination with gardening took root.
Fast forward forty years, and I found myself with a family, a home, and a suburban backyard of my own. With memories as my guide, I embarked on a gardening adventure, starting with a few plants and a small raised bed from Home Depot. My curiosity quickly blossomed into a passion for woodworking, building, and, most importantly, gardening.
The year 2020 marked a turning point. The quiet of quarantine became the perfect backdrop for serious gardening endeavors, particularly starting seeds indoors. This period of trial, error, and discovery taught me invaluable lessons about the resilience and surprises of nature.
As a professional spending most days in front of a computer, I found unique satisfaction in the tangible, earthy experiences of gardening. It became more than a hobby; it was a sanctuary where I could build, grow, and transform inspiration into lush, living realities.
