Growing Information
The Buena Mulata thrives best in rich, well-draining soil. It loves soaking up 8-12 hours of full sun, but won't say no to a little afternoon shade during those intense summer heat waves. Once your Buena Mulata seedling arrives, transplant it into the garden with spacing about 14-18" apart. Remember, this is a pepper that likes its space to grow! For those in colder climates, make sure to harden off your seedlings before transplanting, as this pepper is not frost-hardy. A support stake can be handy as the plant starts bearing its long, round pods that reach up to 6-7 inches in length.
'Nir’s Take'
“These were among the first peppers I ever grew from seed, and they’ve quickly become my go-to! If you’re a fan of spice, these peppers offer just the right amount of heat - not too overpowering, but enough to give your dishes a nice kick. They’re highly versatile and can be used in anything from hot sausages to curries. What’s more, the plant itself is super easy to grow and incredibly abundant. I always recommend having at least two of these plants in any garden for those who are into peppers. They’re just so wonderful to look at with their multitude of colors and they taste absolutely delicious!”
Cooking & Eating Ideas
These peppers are fantastic in a variety of dishes. Try them sliced and sautéed in a hearty chili, diced into a spicy salsa, or roasted and stuffed for a bold appetizer. They'll add the perfect amount of heat to any dish!
