Growing Information

Start your Leutschauer Paprika journey indoors, 8-12 weeks before the last expected frost date. Once all danger of frost has passed, it's time to transplant your seedlings into the garden or containers. These peppers love full sun but will appreciate a bit of afternoon shade during those hot summer days. Make sure to provide them with 8-12 hours of direct sunlight daily and water consistently, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Remember, these peppers do best in USDA Zones 5–10 and will keep giving you plenty of peppers throughout the warm season.

'Nir’s Take'

I’ve grown these often over the last few years. It’s a cool pepper to grow if you want to make paprika or dry the pepper. You need to have a few of these on hand to get a substantial amount of peppers to work with, so if you’re into that or if you just wanna try this year, just put them to the side of the yard, let them grow, and you can get a bunch of probably a bunch of peppers to dry and create your own dry spices.

Cooking & Eating Ideas

The Leutschauer Paprika peppers are perfect for drying and grinding into paprika powder, offering a mild heat and smoky, sweet flavor that enhances many dishes. Try them roasted or use them fresh in your cooking to add a unique spicy twist. Experiment, play around, and let your taste buds rejoice!
