Growing Information
Carolina Reapers are sun worshipers, thriving in warm locations with 8-12 hours of full sun daily. They love their soil like they love their weather—warm and rich in nutrients. When transplanting these sizzling seedlings, remember they prefer slightly acidic, well-draining soil with a pH of 6.0-6.5. With a long growing season, these peppers adore a head start indoors, ideally 8-12 weeks before the last expected frost. Once nighttime temperatures remain consistently above 65°F, it's time to move your little reapers outdoors. Space them about 14-18 inches apart in your garden or use at least a 5-gallon pot per plant. Be prepared to stake or support these fiery fellows as they begin producing heavy fruit.
'Nir’s Take'
“Growing super hot peppers has been a tradition for me for the last five years, and the Carolina Reaper is a top favorite. The sight of my garden full of these gnarly peppers in late summer brings me a thrill like no other. They not only look great, but also lend themselves to some amazing hot sauces and condiments. If you love spicy food, these are a must-have. And if you aren’t a fan of heat, I’d still recommend growing at least one super hot for the sheer fun of it. The incredible shape and look of these peppers are sure to add a dose of intrigue to your garden. It’s a bit of a wait, but trust me, it’s totally worth it.”
